Common Faults with Washing Machineswashing-machine-services-and-repairs.jpg

A washing machine needs to be used properly and carefully in order to extend its lifetime. Please see our Blog and below for valuable information on this topic.

On a washing machine, our technicians will usually find one or more of the following faults:

  1. The Washing Machine wont spin

Possible Causes:

  • Worn or broken V-Belt
  • Worn or burnt out Motor
  • Electrical Problems - for example, broken micro switch

Some of these items are cheap, quick and easy fixes. However, some of them such as a broken motor could prove more time consuming and expensive to repair. A motor in a washing machine will usually last it's entire lifetime, however, these parts do sometimes break prematurely.

  1. The Washing Machine won't drain water

Possible Causes:

  • Broken V-Belt
  • Blockage
  • Pump Failures
  • Electrical issues

A pump in a washing machine will also usually last the entire lifetime of the machine. Sometimes the seals in the pump do wear out prematurely however, but it is possible to repair the pump. Usually, though, it is best to replace the pump unit.

  1. The Washing Machine wont Agitate

Possible Causes:

  • Worn V-Belt
  • Broken or worn coupler
  • Faulty door switch
  • Pressure switch
  • Timer
  • Drive motor
  1. Clothes still wet when removed from washer

Possible Causes:

  • Pump is blocked or broken
  • Worn V-Belt
  • Clutch worn out
  • Damaged coupler (motor to tub)
  • Clogged drain hose
  • Lid switch assembly
  • Door lock assembly

If we do are not able to repair your machine at a reasonable price, why not consider looking at one of our second hand washing machines? They are refurbished to the highest standard and come with a guarantee.
